Downgrade iOS 10 to 9 (Step by Step Guide)

As of September 2016, Apply still signs iOS 9.3.2, iOS 9.3.3 and iOS 9.3.4. Therefore, there is still a chance to downgrade iOS 10.0.1 to iOS 9 before the signing is end. So far, there is no any third party tools or program available for the downgrade. Thus, the only way to do the downgrade is via iTunes. It works best if you have already got a backup of iOS 9.3.2, iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 9.3.4. It depends on which iOS 9 versions you want to revert back to. Just in case if you don’t have a backup, you will have to restore and setup your device from scratch. There is a risk of losing everything so please bear in mind. For iOS 9 to 8, see how to downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.

Step 1: First of all, connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC via a USB cable.

Step 2: Launch iTunes and backup everything you got in your iPhone or iPad.

Step 3: Open a web browser and go to https://ipsw.me/. Select a platform and download iOS 9.3.2 install file if you would like to downgrade to iOS 9.3.2. Instead, download the install file for iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 9.3.4 respectively. There’s also an option to download iOS 9.3.1 as well as iOS 9.3. The file size is approximately 2GB so give it some time for the download.

Step 4: Back to your iTunes, select your device and then head to the summary page. Click to restore your iPhone while holding down Option button if you are on a Mac, or Shift button if you are using Windows. Once the window is opened, find and select the iOS 9 install file you download in Step 3.

Step 5: iTunes will now erase your device’s data and downgrade the software back to iOS 9.3.2, iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 9.3.4. Once the process is complete, you can then restore your data from the backup you made earlier.
